Unlike trademark, patent and industrial design protection, copyright does not arise through registration. Copyright Voluntary Notification is an administrative notification and deposit system that records the particulars and material submitted to MyIPO.
The notification process does not substantively determine originality, authorship or ownership. A certified extract may serve as prima facie evidence of the particulars recorded, but it is not conclusive proof of the copyright claim.
