Review #1: Best class book I've ever read 2010-10-24 I am two classes from completing my degree (BA) from an online university (regionally accredited), though I also went to school for five semesters at a brick & mortar university as well. I say that to preface this statement: having read this book for a school course, it is one of the best school books I've ever read. Other than my physical science books (I'm a sucker for science, what with the definitive facts and pictures/diagrams and all!), it is the best school text I've ever read.
I only wish the publisher's provided a preview of the book on Amazon/Google Books. The book has fifteen chapters organized in four units: "Cyber Entrepreneurs, E-Commerce, and the law," "Intellectual Property Law," "Legal issues of operation, management, and windup of e-commerce firms," and "Human resources and government regulation." It is also very well edited and organized into a logical progression of ideas
What made the book relevant for me was that it is heavy on the case law. The end of each chapter provides a hypothetical case study with questions pertaining to the subject matter of that case, and each chapter provides at least one (if not three or four) examples of both common (case) and statutory law pertaining to that chapter's subject. For my school course, it was refreshing that for once I did not have a final paper, but we had to answer several dozen questions from the running case study in the book. This was both more challenging than a final paper (on some arbitrary topic) but also more rewarding and educational.
If I ever think about starting my own business or have a friend involved in a civil case of any sort, I will definitely consult this text for a good overview of the subject before I begin the in-depth research.
Although the book is now five years old, it still feels as relevant as if it was published this year.
PS --- Lucendia Monday, don't review the seller on the book's page. Please delete your "review." (sigh...)
Review #2: Extremely Poor 2009-04-08 As of today's date I still have not received the book. Have requested a response from individual who sold book and they have not responded. So I would like a refund.
Review #3: AWESOMENESS 2009-02-05 I received the product quite promptly in perfect condition. I am very satisfied with this purchase and the seller.
Review #4: Firm grasp of key issues in cyber 2007-03-04 Rather comprehensive reference guide. Attorney Melvin seems to get at the critical issues relating e-commerce and cyber-law. I recall he appeared on CNBC(Power Lunch I think?)
